Why Zator with a 'Z' ?

Zator was built on the foundations of Venice 85. In 2023, the project's line-up and intentions changed, and it became Zator in reference to the Sator square. The Sator square is a Latin palindrome multiple, the oldest trace of which comes from Pompei, where the ‘s’ is written as a ‘z’.

Zator has taken advantage of the mysticism of this magic square to build its identity, with the added idea of playing on the polysemy it encompasses.

Exploring Heavy Music Genres

In Sator's square, it is possible to read several terms linked to the same lexical eld, whereas the group aims to compose in several styles:
one colour per album.
Alizarin, the first one, is RED, where Groove Metal is the driver.

Alizarin EP

Alizarin is a natural pigment that produces the red color.
Red is passion and violence but it’s also the king of colors.
The red album opts for a more metal aesthetic, with raw, massive sounds that are nuanced by a progressive approach and a female vocalist.
A tragedy in five chapters by five musicians, it tells the story of how an ‘artifact’ ends up overwhelming its creators.

Prima Materia

It all begins with the material that pre-exists creation. It's a resource that essentially exists here and there, so it has to be seized to begin the work.

Excidium

A process of transformation. According to the arcane of alchemy, the creator first destroys the Matter, then washes it and finally sublimates it into a new Creation.
